Edinburgh, 1791. Isobel Duguid and her friend Clessidro are the stars ofthe Edinburgh Musical Society. Clessidro sings opera and Isobel sings famouslydark Scottish ballads, despite her cavalier attitude to holding a tune. Theyroam the streets of Edinburgh, enjoying an opulent lifestyle.
